We're very excited here at Neuk Hoose HQ as we are in the process of putting a new booking system in place. When it's up and running you will be able to check availability and book your holiday automatically and pay by card. The system is powered by SuperControl who have their roots in the holiday cottage industy so they know exactly what we need.

Initially sceptical as we didn't want to lose the human element of communication we have recognised the need of our guests to be able to book and pay at a time that suits them and not have to wait for commumication from us. Going forward you will be able to book and pay for your holiday at 3am if you so wish but you will also be able to get in touch to ask about anything you need from where's the best rock pool to what should I pack.

There's something new at your holiday cottage in Crail! We now have a Google Home Smart Speaker, this wireless device can connect via blue tooth to play your own music. Alternatively if you use a music streaming app simply connect your device to the speaker to play your music. If like me you can't get through the day without Radio 4 simply say "Ok Google play Radio 4" or Classic FM, Grunge FM, 6 music or whatever digital radio station you prefer.

Want to know what the weather will be like for the rest of you stay? book a table at a restaurant, find out what's on locally, or how to count to 10 in Dutch. Literally you can ask it anything, Kids love it and it's guaranteed to keep them occupied for at least 10 minutes, if fact mine would sit and ask it questions for hours if allowed! We're also well aware that having a smart device on all the time in the corner of the room isn't everyone's thing and if that's the case then you simply unplug it and forget about it.

While we may externally be a traditional quirky old building, inside we try to make sure our self catering holiday accommodation is keeping up with the latest technological advances.

"Ok Google" Where's the best holiday cottage in Fife?

By AMS, Apr 20 2018 03:46PM

Scotland's 4th city Dundee is well worth a day trip when staying at Fife's best holiday cottage Neuk Hoose. Just over 20 miles away, Dundee can be reached in well under an hour by car or a bit longer by bus. If you prefer a more scenic entrance however catching the train from Leuhars gives you the chance to cross the famous Tay Rail Bridge, one of the most iconic British engineering feats. For nearly 3 miles the bridge carves it's way majestically over the estuary before entering the city.

Dundee is a city on the up, that's not to say it's been languishing in the doldrums. It has always been a centre for desigh, engineering and creating, constantly pushing boundries. The birthplace of the Dandy, Beano, Oor Wullie and the Broons, UNESCO city of design and according to GQ magazine "The coolest little city in Britain"

It's historic shipbuilding past included the RRS Discovery which carried Shackelton & Scott to the Antartic in the early 1900s. The discovery is now a museum ship housed in her own custom built dock in the sought after waterfront.

The buzz surrounding Dundee at the moment is all about the imminent opening of the V&A museum, the first institution to bear the Victoria and Albert name outside of London. Opening in September this year, it will be an international centre for design in Scotland, hosting major exhibitions, celebrating Scotland's design heritage, inspiring and promoting contemporary talent.

In between walks along the vbeach, exploring East Neuk fishing villages, historic harbours, walking the Fife Costal Path, boat trips, golfing, whsiky and gin tasting, crab and cheese toastie shacks, rock pools and sandcastles, make sure you leave time to visit Dundee, in fact maybe you need to book another week!
